By and for the transgender community

The Transgender Healthcare Access Fund was founded by LGBTQ+ community members and transgender individuals who experienced firsthand the barriers to accessing gender-affirming healthcare. Despite growing acceptance and medical understanding, financial barriers continue to prevent many transgender people from receiving the care they need.

Our founders recognized that while progress has been made in insurance coverage and medical access, significant gaps remain. Many insurance plans still exclude gender-affirming care, and even when coverage exists, out-of-pocket costs can be prohibitive. Meanwhile, many transgender individuals face employment discrimination and economic hardship that makes self-funding impossible.

THAF was created to fill this gap. We provide direct financial assistance for surgeries, hormone therapy, hair removal, and other gender-affirming services that can transform lives. We believe that healthcare is a human right, and we are committed to making that right a reality for as many people as possible.

Based in Louisville, Kentucky, we serve transgender individuals across the United States. Our work is made possible by generous donors who share our vision of healthcare equity and by volunteers who contribute their time and expertise.
